OPPORTUNITY

The client initially approached BrainX to validate whether an AI tutor could deliver a natural, classroom-like GCSE Maths lesson through real-time conversation. The resulting proof of concept was designed as a direct-launch, investor-ready experience featuring a single 20–25-minute lesson, speech-to-text interaction, natural voice responses, synchronized slides and whiteboard content, live transcripts, and a lifelike digital tutor.

After validating the conversational experience, the next challenge was to transform the standalone lesson demonstration into a complete, school-ready MVP. Schools needed a practical way to support students with different knowledge gaps, learning speeds, and confidence levels without increasing teachers’ lesson-planning and progress-tracking workload. The platform also required structured curriculum delivery, educator oversight, multi-school administration, performance reporting, and commercial subscription management.

APPROACH

BrainX partnered with the client to validate the technical and experiential requirements of a human-like AI tutor during the PoC phase. The team explored avatar realism, lip synchronization, response latency, conversational pacing, natural speech behavior, and the synchronization of tutor explanations with lesson slides and whiteboard content.

Building on these findings, we expanded the single-lesson concept into a modular MVP designed around five user roles: Super Admin, School Admin, Teacher, Student, and Finance Admin. We mapped complete user journeys, separated academic and billing access through role-based permissions, and developed a structured pipeline that transforms school PowerPoint material into reviewed AI-led lessons. The learning experience was designed to assess baseline knowledge, select the appropriate lesson depth, monitor student responses, adapt support when needed, and provide actionable insights to educators.

SOLUTION

BrainX team delivered an end-to-end AI tutoring ecosystem that helps schools provide individualized GCSE maths support while keeping educators in control. Key features include:

  • AI Curriculum and Lesson Generation: Super Admins can upload PPT/PPTX lesson material and generate prerequisite quizzes, standard and detailed lesson versions, avatar scripts, and post-lesson assessments. Content can be reviewed, edited, regenerated, sequenced, and approved before release.
  • Adaptive Learning Paths: A baseline quiz selects the appropriate lesson depth, while early in-lesson checks can trigger a seamless switch from standard to detailed instruction when a student needs additional support.
  • Interactive AI Tutor Experience: Students learn through a HeyGen-powered avatar with synchronized slides, voice and chat interaction, real-time transcripts, a dynamic whiteboard, a drawing canvas, and a LaTeX-based maths keyboard.
  • Keyword Flagging and Safety Alerts: If a student uses abusive or self-harm-related language while interacting with the LiveAvatar tutor, the system automatically flags the conversation and alerts the Super Admin and relevant school administrators for review and appropriate follow-up.
  • Role-Based School Ecosystem: Dedicated portals give Super Admins, School Admins, Teachers, Students, and Finance Admins the appropriate tools and permissions for curriculum, users, classes, lessons, reporting, and billing.
  • Teacher Analytics and Reporting: Dashboards surface lesson completion, understanding trends, weak topics, students needing attention, and class-level performance. Class, student, and single-lesson reports can be exported as PDFs.
  • Curriculum and Session Control: Teachers can enable, disable, reorder, schedule, and reschedule lessons, approve revision requests, and preserve student progress through pause, leave, and resume flows.
  • Subscription and Billing Infrastructure: Stripe-powered plans, invoices, renewals, payment status, seat and AI usage limits, discounts, and custom school plans support the platform’s commercial model.
