Go Power deals in a variety of solar controllers, among which its MPPT controller series is the most distinguished one. They also have a mobile application for mobile connectivity and displaying data of these controllers, available for both Android & iOS devices. However, they recently launched two new series called the MPPT Pro and RVC controllers, and they wanted these controllers to be integrated with their apps properly.
Go Power is a subsidiary firm of another US-based company named Valterra Products. Valterra Products being an existing client of BrainX, referred Go Power to us so that they could get a reliable solution for their application. Team BrainX accepted the challenge and dived right in.

APPROACH

Team BrainX got in touch with Go Power and exchanged multiple emails and calls to examine the scenario thoroughly. Their representatives provided our team with their old and new controllers to help them get hands-on experience with how their app works. For further assistance, they shared documentation that included useful information like:
Protocols to be followed in the operations
List of commands and their responses for effective communication between the devices and the app
All these aids helped our team in establishing a steady update for the app.

SOLUTION

After putting our special efforts, we stood successful in creating fully-featured versions of their Android and iOS apps that supported the MPPT Pro and RVC controllers quite well. The apps could track all the stats related to the controllers and display them right on the mobile screens. These stats included the following:

  • Current Production
  • Voltage
  • Battery Health
  • Other related data

Furthermore, since these controllers used Bluetooth to communicate with the phone, we used Bluetooth 5.0 for better connectivity – making the app even more supportive. More so, this integration of Bluetooth was done by keeping the latest BLE communication protocols in mind.
Apart from that, our team also successfully updated the Firmware of these controller devices to keep them consistent with future changes in the protocols.

The end product was quite handy for the Go Power team as not only the platform was now able to support the new devices, but it also allowed the users to gain full control over the device from the app. Everything on the controller, from its live statistics to changing its battery type to setting up a limit on the current, can now be managed from the Go Power’s mobile app.

    Momentary Ink was looking to streamline their online buyers’ experience for the Spring/Summer season as they were facing quite a lot of challenges from both the Front-end and Backend sides of their system.



    From the frontend side, they were facing the following issues:
    The website pages were taking more than the normal time to load, which was impacting the overall site’s performance.
    There were notable glitches and bugs on the web pages that were not only spoiling the user experience but were also making the site look cheaper. The site was not properly optimized for mobile devices. They wanted to get some of their web pages revamped in terms of design and functionality, so the overall customer experience could be enhanced.



    Whereas, from the backend side, they had the following issues: Whenever a new order was created, it was redirected to the designers, who would convert them into high-resolution vector images. The records for all these orders were uploaded into cloud storage, which eventually maxed out. Momentary Ink used two servers to support its backend operations. Unfortunately, one of these two servers went down. So, they needed a new server that could imitate the functionality of the lost one.

    Momentary Ink approached BrainX to solve this problem for them. Our teams sat down together to study the case and brainstorm ideas to provide the best solution for their e-commerce store. The idea was to refine the website experience, from both frontend and backend aspects, so that a better user experience could be created for their customers in the future.

    Our team worked hard to finally solve all the errors that Momentary Ink was facing in its online operations. For Frontend issues, our team:

    Optimized the speed of all the web pages of the site, which improved their search engine ranking. Eliminated major glitches that were jeopardizing the frontend user experience.Made all the web pages highly optimized for mobile devices.


    Moreover, our team used the A/B testing method while re-designing the pages. In this method, two different variants of each page were created and were presented to different customers – whichever page performed better (in terms of sales) was then finalized for the site.
    For Backend issues, our team Erased all the unnecessary data related to older customer orders, thus freeing up a lot of space in the cloud for newer data. Created a new server by mimicking the operations of the existing server and successfully integrated it with the system.

                  Cycling up or down a scenic mountain route may appeal to many adventure seekers. It’s just that any minor mishap can lead to disastrous–even life-threatening consequences. Being mindful of such occurrences, Skillion, a long-time creator of eBikes, thought of connecting and securing a fleet of bikes in Australia. 

                  So, after acquiring funds from the USA in 2019, the HAWKeye project was finally initiated. After a comprehensive market analysis, Skillion engaged BrainX to make their connected dashboard mobile app a reality.

                  Initially, team BrainX was contacted through a series of emails. Once the project started taking shape, verbal communication increased between team members from both sides. The app requirements and specifications were established after numerous detailed meetings.


                  The Hawkeye app designs and prototypes were built, exchanged, and finalized soon after. Once the development started, a working product was delivered after each sprint as our company adopted the Agile methodology to see the project through.

                  SOLUTION

                  The app was supposed to help riders enjoy their biking experience and keep track of their rides. So, one of the biggest challenges in developing a connected dashboard app for bikes was ensuring that it’s easy to use while on the go.


                  Many existing apps are difficult to read or operate while riding, and they can be disconnected from other apps and the bike itself. So, to overcome these issues, the app uses modes to allow riders to quickly switch between various screens at the touch of a button.


                  The key innovation in the app is the IF module and Thumb Controller that connect to the eBike motor and the phone via Bluetooth. Once connected, riders can control their bikes and access the app's features without looking down at their phone, improving their situational awareness and safety.


                  The app offers several other unique features, such as:


                  • Find-a-bike feature: Allows riders to see the location of other bikes using the app, and it’s handy when riding with others.
                  • Flash messaging: Riders can quickly send messages to other users on the app using this feature.
                  • The Hawkeye rear camera feature: Uses AI to detect vehicles approaching from behind the rider.
                  • Tours: A feature that allows riders to follow a scenic route from one point to another.

                    Baritastic is a mobile app made just to simplify that process for the patients with its unique health tracking options for weight loss. Baritastic as a company was acquired by one of our previous clients named Tespo and was immediately handed over to BrainX for all development-related tasks based on our unparalleled and reliable development services. The task at hand was to revamp and maintain the current version of the mobile app for both Android and iOS platforms

                    Since this app was initially being handled by another team, BrainX had a big challenge to first set foot in the app’s backend environment. The app was built using the CakePHP frameworks, which were pretty old to manage along with future requirements. In addition to that, there were some UI/UX-related issues that were hampering the experience & overall performance of the product.


                    Baritastic’s user base was quite large which means a lot of data to be processed. It generally took minutes instead of seconds to get the required response from the backend, therefore optimizing the backend was one of the major technical challenges to be addressed by BrainX. . Therefore, after grabbing all the necessary instructions for Baritastic, a team of expert backend engineers was formed. Later on, our core mobile development team jumped in to ensure sound builds with particular attention to the accuracy of those health tracker APIs.

                    Our team was focused on turning the old lagging app into a stable health and fitness app that could bring out the most accurate results while actually serving to be a surgery prep app for bariatric surgery patients. Since the previous team didn’t follow the coding standards, our team had no other choice than to revamp the web dashboard from scratch.

                    Our team managed to take hold of the project within 3-4 months and developed a new and improved dashboard using VUE JS and  PHP Laravel. These new developments resulted in a much better customer experience that included faster processing time and easier new client onboarding.

                    Other enhancements injected some fantastic features that would allow the patients to lose weight without having much to worry about. The current app contains a range of tracking options, including,

                    • Exercise Tracking
                    • Measurement Tracking
                    • Assorted Reminders

                    Besides these tracking options, Baritastic offers added features like Patient Journal (for logging thoughts, taking pictures, and rating hunger & happiness), Newbie Checklists (for staying on task and getting to the surgeries), Bariatric Specific Recipes, and Baritastic Social Support Group.
                    Nevertheless, now team BrainX is conveniently on the support stage for both their web and mobile app where it’s easier for us to implement any future enhancements and customization.

                    IMPACT

                    Baritastic now falls in the top 100 medical apps in the US, with 500,000+ users onboard. Its revenue for the year 2021 totaled a whopping 1 million USD. After this enormous success, Tespo was able to sell it to the pharmaceutical giant Metagenics.
